In march of 1996, the Bishop Estate orchestrated a rally at City Hall. Hundreds of Kamehameha school children were bussed in wearing T-shirts and holding signs with messages aimed at swaying a council vote against the city's lease to fee conversion law. Like Dorothy and her quaking entourage when faced before the almighty Oz, six of the nine council members capitulated and voted in favor of the estate. Honolulu Weekly cartoon 3/27/1996
